Rescued orphans urgently need your support
Nia, Esa, and Indri are just three of the many rescued orphaned orangutans who arrived at our rehabilitation centres this year. Their stories are heartbreaking, but by joining our adoption family, you can help us give these traumatised babies a second chance.
Rescued orphans urgently need your support
Nia is just 10 months old. She was rescued from a remote village after losing her mother to human-wildlife conflict and being kept as a pet for two weeks. When she arrived at Nyaru Menteng, she was tiny — just 3 kilograms — and had abrasions on her back; most likely the result of being tied up during her time in captivity.
Esa and Indri had a rough start, too. The 6.5 and 7.5-year-old baby girls were found in extremely poor condition, malnourished and thin, after being kept as pets for a month and fed only sugar water and cassava leaf tips. In addition, poor Indri had been attacked by a dog and was covered in wounds. Thankfully, a local resident knew the two infants needed help — and rode 12 hours on a motorbike to Samboja District, from where a rescue team brought Esa and Indri to our rehabilitation centre.
Please help us provide our rescued babies with the loving care they deserve by adopting an orangutan today!
"Orangutan adoptions are such a simple but powerful way to help. Every dollar goes toward giving these babies the second chance they deserve. It's hope in action — and we'd love for more people to be part of it."
- BOS Australia CEO, Kerin Welford
Their future is bright, but it needs your light to shine
The good news is that Nia's, Esa's and Indri's condition is steadily improving, and their playful personalities are already starting to shine through. However, despite these promising signs, the journey to freedom for the three orphans will be long and challenging. This is why the support from our donors is so vital for these little ones.
The most effective way to rewrite their stories is by adopting an orangutan. It's a symbolic adoption, but the impact is very real, from medical treatment and food to the safe, loving environment they need to grow strong enough for eventual release back into the wild.
